UBP Monaco Shares the Story Behind "Âme"
I'm deeply honored that Union Bancaire Privée has published a feature on their newsroom about the opening of "Âme" at their Monaco office. It means a great deal to see an institution take the time to look closely at the work, not just the images, but the process behind them: the choreography rehearsed on land before ever entering the water, the freediving, the total absence of digital retouching or artificial intelligence, and the search for a state of presence that only breath-holding can bring.
UBP describes the exhibition as an invitation to look more closely at what lies beneath the surface, both literally and inwardly, and their CEO in Monaco, Sérène El Masri, spoke of wanting to "open our doors to artists whose work combines discipline, innovation, and emotion." Reading their perspective on the project, shaped by conversations we had together, was a moving reminder of why I do this work in the first place.
